Hello guys!
I'm from Portugal, my brother and I just finished our RD 500 project and published a website with all the 100 photos of evolution aswell as some videos of it accelerating.

All the engine and chassis tuning specifications are there.
The website is http://www.racingsm.org
This was a light tune, we just wanted a nearly 110 - 120 hp from the engine, later we'll conceive 2 future projects with the RD 500 & RG 500 base that can be seen in the Future Projects section.
Hope you like it, and congratulations for this great forum aswell!

Yes, it was a light tune, the only parameter that is somehow good is the maximum rpm 12 000 - 12 500, but the other parameters like cylinder work, head domes, carburetors, intakes are very soft.
It's like 4 x Yamaha DTR 125 stock only with an aftermarket exhaust and +2mm carburetors without air filters (~28 - 30 hp)
It's possible to obtain 50 - 55 hp from a highly tuned 4 x 125 cc with a GP tuning, but the reliability of the engine would be severely compromised, so, by reboring the cylinders with custom made sleeves for 64mm x 50.6 we achieve 643 cm3 and with 13 000 rpm and a tuning degree bellow the GP one we can accomplish near 200 - 210 hp, so yeah, 110 - 120 hp is a soft tune.
Don't forget the Jolly exhausts were made to obtain more power from the STOCK ENGINE, not a heavily tuned one... |

| E' vero Nrg69, un lavoro cosi certosino per poi cadere nel pressapochismo dei dati del motore, ma una bella rullata? |

Hy BroLy, congratulations for the bike. But why you don't realyze a real mesuration of the power on the rear-whell. What you say are only your considerations, not real mesured data! Everybody here know the RD500 engine, and we know that increase the power of this engine is really very difficult. Please, if you can, make a real mesuration with a diagram of the power and rpm. Anyway the bike is very beautifull and I'm very happy that you are still alive after your "street performance" showed in the videos. Regards |
